As I have administrator privilege and am the only user of the computer, I was perplexed!
I wrote five emails to CyberLink for advice but I may as well have run into a brick wall. They stalled by asking me for screen shots showing the error messages and then replied by quoting the same error message!
I think CyberLink is based in Taiwan with help desks in India - whatever, something seemed to be lost in translation, or their help advisors have insufficient qualifications or experience.
Poor show. I also found that you could enable this Hidden Administrator Account but was told "you shouldn't use this account for anything other than troubleshooting, and in fact, you probably shouldn't use it at all! Apparantly it is designsd for security purposes. I think this Hidden Account was the reason for my problem with the installation of the CyberLink software; but if so, why did'nt CyberLink tell me about it - perhaps they did'nt know or want to know!
Anyway I decided not to compromise the security of my computer in any way and to look for some alternative software. More expensive, but I am well pleased with it. I returned the CyberLink software to Amazon and they repayed my money straight away with absolutely no problem. On reflection, what superb customer service Amazon provide, compared with the pathetic non existent help of CyberLink. Well now I know why I am an Amazon customer - and will continue to be one.

After a few days it prompted me to install a major update. I applied this on all three PCs and again the software worked fine with no problems.
When playing the Avatar blu-ray the picture and sound were both superb. I can highly recommend this software to anyone else who wants a bluray player for Windows 7. The installation was extremely easy and we were watching a blu-ray film within 15 min with both sound and picture being taken via HDMI from the graphics card. If one is running Win 7 there is no excuse, complete system backup is dead easy as is system restore.
Had Power DVD turned out to be the install from Hell I would have taken the greatest of pleasure in "terminating it with extreme prejudice" by means of a full system restore and then demanded my money back. I have had earlier versions of Power DVD and yes, one had to be very cautious. If the program does not like your PC it can be a real monkey. This version is an excellent media player and I recommend strongly as long as you take the elementary precautions I refer to above. One person found this helpful.
I was very impressed with this product, needed a patch when it first arrived due to using bit windows but after that worked perfectly well. Loads quickly, haven't found a video file that it won't play and the up-scaling of regular DVD's is really quite impressive.
